Chruteren cross-country ski trail
Route Information
Best Time of Year
Description
It starts near the village and leads through the idyllic winter landscape, through forest sections and past alpine huts.
The Chruteren track owes its attribute of "difficult" to the curves, downhill runs and a crisp ascent. The track, which is groomed for classic and skating, starts at 1300 metres and is therefore mostly above the fog line. The start is at the top station of the Maggiweid ski lift. It leads out into the quiet landscape, where the occasional fir trees watch you silently and the walkers greet you friendly. On the way to Bawangli you can see the Muotathal mountain world, a little further down at the rope pole you can see the village of Muotathal and on the way back you can see the Grosse Mythen as a fixed point on the horizon. Back in the village of Stoos, cosy pubs invite you to linger before taking the funicular back to the Schwyz basin. The trail can be used free of charge.
